Props, Costumes, Make-up etc:
The costumes used in this trailer connote that the protagonist is a late-teen who lives in a suburban/deprived area. This could link in with the target audience who seem to be teenagers who live in these types of areas. This all can be linked in with this "hoodie culture" sensationalized throughout the media these days. Some of the weapons in the trailer (props) were a bottle which could be used for violence showing there are some violent scenes in the film.
Narrative:
The story revolves around a teenager who wants to make himself famous by becoming a rapper. He finds a way to do this by finding a Rap Battle poster in Greenford High School. He finds his life difficult as his girlfriend leaves him and he is involved with the wrong people. - This is what I'm interpreting from this trailer.
Setting:
The film is set in West London. The area seems to be a deprived area where crime is common and people want to escape from the harsh times that are present in the area.
Sound Effects:
Throughout the trailer you can hear the person rapping in the background, also the beats you hear are well executed which are common in trailer for rap movies as they are crucial for making a rap song.
Camera shots, edits etc:
The angles mainly used in the trailer were close-ups, this was so that you get to know the rapper due to the fact it revolves around him. The use of editing and camera angles gave it a dramatic effect, in particular the reversing bottle shot which added the genuine and creativity of the trailer.
Language:
The film uses a lot of Slang you'll find in these areas. This connotes the type of area where not only the film is based on but also some background information on the protagonist as he is from this area we can assume he's had a hard life and has done some bad things in his life that he's probably not proud off.
Institution:
The film tries to teach people to not give up trying to achieve what they want to achieve. No matter where you are from or what you are you can achieve it, similar to most films were the person attempts to become a rapper who lives in a deprived area.
Lighting:
The lighting when the person is rapping is dark to show how serious he is about rapping and to show he is in a bad area.
